The Handyman & Floor Fitter Role
Floor Fitting & Carpet Laying
Floor fitting and carpet laying are your anchor skills. Laminate installation, carpet fitting, subfloor prep, finishing details—you’ve got this down.
Bathroom Fitting & Joinery Work
Bathroom fitting, running water lines, building storage and joinery, fitting doors, adapting carpentry to fit odd spaces. You’re the handyman who makes projects actually work.
Newcastle Housing Types
Projects cover Newcastle’s housing types:
- Victorian terraces in Jesmond (original features, period-specific techniques)
- 1930s semis in Gosforth and Heaton (solid brick, space optimization)

What We Need
Essential
- 3-5 years hands-on experience (across trades is fine—floor fitting, carpet laying + carpentry, or handyman background with proven flooring)
- Proven floor fitting or carpet fitting experience (laminate or carpet installation)
- Own tools and transport
- Problem-solving mindset (adapt to different site conditions and client needs)
- Can communicate clearly with property owners
Nice to Have (Not Required)
- Plumbing or bathroom fitting background
- Joinery or carpentry skills
- Health & Safety certification (CSCS)
- Multiple trade skills
- NVQ/Level 3 qualification
We value hands-on experience and practical skills over formal qualifications alone. Learning on the job is a natural part of the role.
